I leaned into her, inhaled her wondrous scent and whispered, "I love you." She said, "I love you too, Ronald." I kissed her on the cheek. I kissed her again. Laura reciprocated. Our childish pecks devolved into slobbery smooches. So much kissing left me breathless. But I couldn't stop.

Ron Tanner has published stories and essays in such journals as the Iowa Review, New Letters and the Massachusetts Review. His awards for writing include a Pirate's Alley Faulkner Society gold medal, a Pushcart Prize, and New Letters Award first prize. His collection of stories, A Bed of Nails, won both the G. S.
